Performance Analysis of the Umts System for Packet Data Transfer over Dedicated Channels

چکیده
This paper addresses the UMTS system performance analysis over dedicated channels based on buffer length allocation and dynamic allocation control procedures. Throughput and access delay for packet data transmission is evaluated as a function of network load for both of the allocation procedures. A mathematical model, which can be used to analyze the throughput of UMTS dedicated channel, is proposed and the packet delay is analyzed theoretically.

Performance Evaluation of Umts Packet Services
The provision of efficient high speed packet data services is probably the most important challenge for third generation systems (3G). The efficiency of such services mainly depends on the radio interface. The UMTS W-CDMA radio interface is characterized by great flexibility and a variety of different physical and logical channel types: for example, on the downlink, the Dedicated Channels (DCH)...

Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) is a third-generation cellular network that enables high-speed wireless Internet access. It can provide maximum data-rates ranging from 64kb/s to 2Mb/s in different environmental types. UMTS is designed to provide access to the existing Internet services as well as to UMTS specific services. It will augment the existing capabilities of 2G mobile...

Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) is a third-generation cellular network that enables high-speed wireless Internet access. This paper investigates the performance of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) over UMTS utilizing a common and four dedicated transport channels with bit rates up to 2 Mb/s. The performance of TCP was examined under varying channel conditions. Bulk data tra...

The provision of multimedia services to mobile users is one of the main goals of Third Generation (3G) systems. The traffic being transferred within 3G mobile networks will be composed by different information flows with various constraints on the required QoS (bit rate, delays, etc...). In order to reach such a goal, 3 6 standardization bodies have designed highly-6exible radio interfaces, cha...
